Description

The Inside Nightly News campaign uses a documentary style technique to capture the world’s most news-making moments as they happened, with our shadow film crew following Lester Holt and his team as they experienced these impactful events, like President Obama’s historic visit to Cuba.

“Inside Nightly News: Cuba” opens and closes on a black screen providing a simple, sober framing to the story. Once the visuals appear it is without fanfare, we just experience the action as it unfolded that day, with Lester having a conversation with a young Cuban boy in order to uncover the true human and cultural impact of progressive change to U.S.-Cuba relations.

The narrator’s voice is Lester, himself, musing on what it is like to be there in the moment and how viewers might interpret the reporting back home. Natural sound was captured at the scene and enhanced only in volume.
