Description
Instagram’s office is an open plan, glass walled piece of architecture full of stimulating technology, colour, sound and people. We aimed to create a photo experience that allowed people an escape from this busy environment into an immersive, infinite galaxy of light and colour. Inspired by light artists like Dan Flavin and Yayoi Kusama, we created a 2.5m square installation space, mirrored on all sides inside and out. People accessed the room through a set sliding doors into the softly colour changing mirrored space that offered infinite perspectives for an incredible photo opportunity.
Execution
The exterior of the 2.5m x 2.5m Infinity Room was mirrored on all sides to reflect the incredible views from the 5th floor windows. Double sliding doors gave gave the appearance of a much larger installation when opened. Inside LED strip lighting edged all of the mirror joins creating an incredible reflected image - users can choose their choice of colour using a remote control. 80% of the installation was built off site and reassembled in Instagram HQ over the course of a weekend, causing minimal disruption.
Outcome
800 photos were shared of the infinity room across instagram, Facebook within two months launch.
This generated 16,000 engagements (likes, comment, and shares), and 800,000 impressions of the infinity across a number user generated hashtags such as #Facebookdublin.
