Description

We put the talented employees of Albert Heijn in the spotlight, quite literally. We created the online series ‘Intercom Stars’, a musical talent show in which employees compete against each other, through the intercom of the supermarket. Employees battle along for a chance at fame, while in turn delighting and surprising shopping customers. Throughout seven sensational sounding online episodes we see how these talented employees sing their way from intercom to stardom.

Execution

Intercom Stars used the power of social media and community to become an incredibly engaging and popular online format. The format was driven and supported by the social votes of fans, which eventually led Junior & Noelle competing for the coveted title in a spectacular and sensational finale event. During the live streaming on Facebook, 65,000 emoticon votes from fans and a professional jury declared Junior as the winner of Intercom Stars. He has gone on to record his first single and music video: “Something in the way you move”.

Outcome

• The 7 episodes accumulated over 3 million ‘Appie Views’, which are views that are all longer than 30 sec.

• A total of 60.000 votes were cast by fans of the Intercom Stars.

• Intercom Starts was awarded the ‘Best Social Media Award’ for the ‘Best Campaign of 2017’ in The Netherlands.
