Description

Our starting point was an event in Bogota with a huge ambition: bring more than 6,000 Colombians, from all over the country regardless of race, religion, or political views, together in a peaceful art installation, all of them naked, as a symbol of peace, equality and progress. This was made possible through a partnership with renowned artist, Spencer Tunick, who shared Johnnie Walker’s passion to create this moment of unity.

To give this moment cultural context, we developed a documentary film to tell the inspiring stories of key protagonists from different sides of the conflict who would be participating in the event. In their own words, we learned what they experienced during the conflict, how they overcame their challenges and their new hopes for a better future for Colombia.

The end result was a film that celebrated the progress achieved by the Colombian people and their ‘Keep Walking’ spirit.

Execution

In close collaboration with Spencer Tunick & MAMBO (Museum of Modern Art Bogota) we started the campaign with the event in Bogota where we had 6000 colombians participate and even double more applications for participation. Prior to the event we interviewed key protagonist to share their reason to join in this unifying art installation. Their stories were exceptional, from a blind man who befriended the attacker that blinded him to a woman who fought with FARC. All of the stories ultimately lead to the powerful message, that in the end, we’re all equal.

The event was hosted locally for one day and covered live on local Colombian TV. The video was posted on Youtube and Facebook and activated in 16 markets through small scale seeding.

Outcome

Over 6,000 Colombians took part in the nude art installation in Bogota, in a show of solidarity and unity. The story resonated globally and was picked up organically by more than 500 news outlets. Online, we gave 20.1 million people in 16 markets a front row seat to this show of unity at the most relevant moment: the signature of the peace treaty. With the world watching, we showed Colombia’s inspirational shared belief in a better tomorrow and inspired others with the power of human progress.

With more than double the amount of applications to participate we well surpassed our objective to activate locals on the ground. With the world talking about our film, from Japan, the UK, the USA and even The Netherlands talking about it, we exceeded our target far beyond our wildest imaginations.
