Kokopelli is a small backpackers hostel founded in Lima-Peru that recently opened its doors in the historic city of Cuzco. We wanted to encourage our guests from Kokopelli Lima to also stay with us when they travel to Cuzco.

We also knew for a fact that the city of Cuzco is located at an altitude of 11,152 feet above sea level —a big difference from Lima.

What many travellers are not aware of, are the harmful effects of travelling to these altitudes: Dizziness, fatigue and shortness of breath are the main symptoms of altitude sickness.

For centuries, the most effective way to prevent it is an ancient method called “Chakchado de Coca”, in which a person places a coca leaf in their mouth and chews it releasing a substance that relieves the symptoms. So we decided to create the first anti-altitude sickness business card, made entirely of coca leaf.

The contact details of our Cuzco hostel are detachable, so travellers could get their correct dozes and still keep our details with them.
