Background

Cabify is the only app that offsets the CO2 of your trips by planting native trees, but this alone is certainly not enough to offset the emissions that are produced in cities every day. This is why Cabify has also made the competition's rides carbon neutral, inviting users to share their trip through a different app so that Cabify can also take action on it.

Idea

Transportation accounts for 20% of the emissions produced in a city, so it is vital to propose measures to reduce air pollution. Becoming the first carbon neutral app and offsetting the carbon footprint of all its trips was not enough, so Cabify had to reach out to users of other apps and ask for their help.

And so Cabify created a campaign communicating that it would also offset the CO2 of the competition, peacefully asking the riders of other apps to join the cause by sharing their trips, thus allowing Cabify to also offset those emissions. In this way, they sought to attract those users to the brand.

Strategy

Cabify is the safest, highest quality and most sustainable App.

And people manage to empathize with a message as the compensation for the carbon footprint, when the actions become close, tangible, challenge them in their daily lives and reach their beliefs and behaviors.

The challenge was to creatively and impressively communicate this brand's commitment to the environment, creating an experience with users to generate loyalty among those who already use the app and persuade users of other apps to choose Cabify.

Execution

A website was created where the users of the other apps had to upload the receipt for their trips with the competition.

Then, with the data of these users and the help of an algorithm, the CO2 produced in each trip was measured based on the kilometers traveled.

The process ended with a calculation of how many trees had to be planted to neutralize the CO2 produced.

In this way, we not only manage to retain a significant amount of emissions, but also contribute to protecting a space that is regularly affected by fires.
