Background
Every year 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean. We all know that plastic pollution is a threat, but what most people don’t know is that at this rate, plastic will acoustically isolate the sound of the ocean in the next generations.
Idea
To make people listen about the cause, Corona gave a voice to the ocean for the first time. We teamed up with oceanographers to analyze the data of polluted beaches in Brazil.
Strategy
To make people listen about the cause, Corona gave a voice to the ocean for the first time. “This is not a song, it’s a call for help” and with that in mind, we created a song that’s at the same time pop and deep. For the first time using an algorithm that transforms polluted sea waves into music waves. The song lyrics were inspired by posts with the #ListenToTheOcean and the song was created by Donavon Frankenreiter and Céu, two musicians and ocean activist from USA and Brazil. Together we launched a music video. For every share on social media, Corona committed to clean 10m2 of polluted beaches.
Execution
Using drones, we capture the design of the waves of beaches polluted with plastic and transform them into music waves. The lyrics were inspired by posts with the #ListenToTheOcean and the song was created by Donavon Frankenreiter and Céu. And together we launched a music video. Not only as entertainment, But as a tool of empowerment. For every share on social media, Corona committed to clean 10m2 of polluted beaches.
Outcome
100.000 m2 of beaches were cleaned.
