OVERVIEW

Description

London Beer Lab is a unique blend of fun, discovery and expertise. They believe in sharing beer stories and getting down and dirty with the process. They’re always evolving and fun and experimentation is key to how they do things and they love inviting people to meddle with malts and discover new beer experiences for themselves. It’s a place where small batch speaks volumes and where all that really matters is great beer and the joy of curiosity and craft.

The label is split between Craft and Curiosity, allowing the Craft part to hold all the beer connotations and Curiosity the platform for versatility. Because the label is removable from the bottle and is only held on by a single rubber band, it gives the ‘open source’ beer community a platform to adapt and take away the beer recipe with their added notes.

Execution

“I want to share some of my best experiences with beer (tasting, making, all of it) with like minded people. Having fun, chatting about beer, what could be better?”

The new label is split between Craft and Curiosity, allowing the Craft to hold all the beer connotations and the Curiosity being the platform for versatility. The uncoated paper stock and detail of the typography encapsulates the craft.

Because the label is removable from the bottle and is only held on by a single rubber band, it gives the ‘open source’ beer community a platform to adapt and take away the beer recipe with their added notes.

Using cutting edge digital printing, we were able to create one die and print multiple variants on one sheet. This gave them the cost base to achieve not only vibrant colours, but at the efficiency needed for the budget and low volumes.

Outcome

In an increasingly competitive and crowded marketplace, London Beer Lab’s brews were regularly dismissed by venues before even being sampled, based solely on their branding. The new labels have now given them an excellent chance of being considered, and subsequently more often than not adopted. And even, on occasion, have been a deciding factor in venues ordering them.

London Beer Lab has been able to get its beers into a wide range of venues, thereby scaling up production from an obscure nano-brewery level to that of a steadily growing microbrewery. In fact, they have gone from 4 repeat accounts to over 50, and in terms of actual wholesale beer sales they’ve gone from circa £2k in the 12 months prior to relaunch to £30k in the 6 months post launch.

The brewery is now operating at full capacity and needs to expand to fulfill demand.
