Using the new HTML5 WebAudio APIs, users can mix with a series of perfectly timed loops and compositions, allowing them to explore, play and share Madeon’s upcoming album in an audio centric and playful way on any device, be it their laptop, tablet or mobile, while simultaneously driving awareness and pre-sales.
As an added bonus, using brand spanking new experimental WebMIDI API on Chrome and the JazzSoft MIDI plugin for other browsers, we also made it possible for fans to control the website and mix the album samples via a Novation Launchpad, just like Madeon himself.
Outcome
In the first week of launch Madeon’s Adventure Machine had over 320,000 visits with an average dwell time of 05m40s.
Over 7.5 million samples were played from Madeon's upcoming album with 10% of all visits clicking to share their own mixes, spreading word of Madeon’s upcoming release even further, and 3% clicking through to pre-order the album.
News of the website climbed to the front page of Reddit. It was hailed by Beatport, The Fader, Music Radar and called out for “making a marvellous racket online” by the music industry journalist body, Music Ally.
The album went on to debut at number 1 in Billboard's dance/electronic music charts
