Description
Go Go Nana Ni San Ni Rei (Japanese reading for '5572320') is a new artist group consisting of eight junior high school girls.
The group's concept is "changing our conception of music." For the third wave of the group's promotional activities, our mission was to create music and music video that the world had not experienced before.
With "mashup" in mind, we composed four original songs. Then, we developed an interactive mashup player on the Internet for users to mix and listen to tracks just by pressing buttons, and enjoy mashup animations as the music video. 15 mashup patterns are possible.
Execution
We constructed this HTML website with WebGL. The development period was approximately two months.
First, we configured the structure of the songs for mashup and verified the technical aspects. Next, we composed songs according to the music structure and created video storyboards for the music video. We made each design and CG element as separate parts, and then assembled them.
To ensure that the musical experience could be possible via the smartphone, we put in effort to create low-poly 3D expressions, minimize loop animations, and decrease the number of objects. To actualize the music video with WebGL, we linked 2D elements by using CG software such as Cinema4D, and rendered 3D elements through JSON format.
Outcome
MASHUP MUSIC PLAYER was featured on over 100 online news platforms.
GIZMODO JAPAN website selected it for "The Best Music of 2016" ranking.
Through this new way of playing with music, we succeeded in increasing the fanbase of 5572320.
