A beautiful and heart breaking story of the difficulties of falling in love with someone you don't really match. Set in an animated fairytale world.

The film is a mix of miniatures, stop motion, digital characters and FX.

We encountered many of the traditional challenges of mixing media in animation and creating a rich and consistent universe. In order to ensure that our team was on the same creative page, we maintained a back and forth dialogue between production design, art direction through to animation, so that the design and technical approach was informed by all of the artists.

Additionally, since our intention was to create the appearance of a physical, almost real, world, our techniques referred to mimicking physical production. The animation is not CG fluid, but idiosyncratic and stepped, the shapes are both designed and naturalistic, the materials and look are analogs of real world materials at a miniature scale.
