OVERVIEW

Background

The success of using Simlish on TikTok to market our first ever in-game Summer concert tipped us off that Simlish could be a possible way to help launch our summer frontline release, Cottage Living (a Sims take on the #cottagecore fantasy).

Leverage the power of the Simlish Cottage Living soundtrack to help sell Cottage Living.

Objectives: make Simlish a mainstream part of the summer music convo.

Idea

Cows and a truly epic Simlish soundtrack were two of the most exciting additions to our game with Cottage Living. And after doing some internet sleuthing on cows and music, we discovered that they actually love being sung to. So we imagined a cottage core inspired music video in which a real Japanese Breakfast would serenade real cows in Simlish—in a real life version of our bucolic in-game town, Henford on Bagley.

Strategy

Use the power of our Simlish soundtrack to sell music lovers and Sim players on Cottage Living.

Execution

The film was originally made to announce Cottage Living at EA Play Live, EA's online game showcase, on July 22nd, 2021.

In addition, we ran on our Sim-owned social channels and on Japanese Breakfast's owned channels.

We also used the Simlish version of Be Sweet on our Cottage Living trailer.

Outcome

Sim fans and Japanese Breakfast fans alike freaked out over the collaboration made in Cottage Living heaven.

Simlish broke into the mainstream music conversation with Rolling Stone writing about our Moosic video and other would-be Simlish stars taking to Twitter to manifest their own Simlish stardom.

Cottage Living became our most popular expansion pack to date.
