Description
It is a 3 minute viral film. It introduces the life of hard-working delivery men who are hidden contributors of the rapid development of Korean online shopping industry. The film also shows the surprise event we created for the delivery men who face the doubled volume of packages to deliver before the Chuseok, Korean Thanksgiving holiday. The film ends with thank you messages from the delivery men.
Execution
We prepared surprise gifts and parties for hard working delivery men whose work doubles when Chuseok, Korea’s biggest holiday, comes around. It is a Korean custom to send gifts to one another’s home so during the season, their work often continues until the midnight and it is hard for them to enjoy the holiday. We filmed the surprise event and it was viewed more than 5.4 million times on Youtube (as of 27 March 2015).
Outcome
In 6 days, the video scored over one million views on YouTube. ‘ebay Korea Delivery Video’ became the most-searched word on Korean portal sites. The brand preference rose 12%, and mobile sales increased 87.5% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, ‘ebay Korea Delivery campaign’ is chosen as one of the best marketing cases using YouTube by Google Korea.
But the real fruition of this campaign is that it made us stop and think about the delivery service. After video went viral, more and more consumers started writing thank you messages to the delivery men while filling up the order sheet.
