Execution

With this Snapchat feature in mind, we created two 10-second videos about environmental issues. The first had factual information about deforestation: “Every 10 seconds, 4,000m2 of the Amazon Rain forest are destroyed by deforestation.” The second video showed factual information about pollution: “Every 10 seconds, 140,000 liters of sewage are dumped into Guanabara Bay.” Both videos were sent using Snapchat and helped us spread a clear message: nature is disappearing right now.

Outcome

With a campaign with no budget, we have made many teenagers concerned with environmental causes. Many of them replied to our messages asking for more information on how to help. Visits to OndAzul’s website, where the NGO promotes sustainable projects, increased by 400%. The campaign video received international coverage and earned $200,000 in free media. Mentions on Twitter increased by 2,500%.
