Teen girl athletes, like their male counterparts, are focused on training and improving their game. But, they don’t treat professional athletes with the same god-like status. What they do get excited about is celebrity culture. So, what happens when you combine a throng of paparazzi, some amazing athletic stunts, and a rising star like Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen? You get a viral video that commanded nearly 300,000 views in a week, was linked by hundreds of sites, several TV networks, and mentioned across the blogosphere. Even with minimal Nike branding, girls instantly recognized that their favorite star had turned sporty.
