OVERVIEW

Description

On South Africa’s most popular beach, we introduced the NIVEA SunSlide: the most entertaining way for kids to apply extra water-resistant sunblock. One slide is all it takes to be entirely covered.

When parents arrived at the beach they could immediately let their children play on the slide instead of holding or catching them to apply sunscreen. Sprays positioned along the slide covered them from fingers to toes without interrupting their fun.

Getting kids to apply sunblock has never been this easy!

Execution

During the summer, we surprised families on South Africa’s most popular beach early in the morning with our SunSlide.

We loaded 50 litres of SPF50+ extra water-resistant NIVEA KIDS sunscreen into our reservoirs. They were linked to sprayers positioned all around the slide. When a kid starts sliding down the sprayers activate, coating the entire body in one go.

When parents arrived at the beach they immediately let their children play on the slide instead of holding or catching them to apply sunscreen. The kids had fun sliding down while covering themselves with sunblock giving a break to parents from the hassle of sunscreen duty.

Outcome

On South Africa’s most popular beach, NIVEA turned the boring act of sunscreen application into the most entertaining event. The SunSlide was a massive success covering over 100 kids per hour. Every kid on the beach had fun on the slide as well as some parents who couldn’t help it. They have all been coated with our sunblock experiencing its benefit during the day. No kids were sunburned... or bored! Hundreds of families were educated on the importance of applying sunscreen.

The SunSlide changed their beach experience by giving a break to parents from the hassle of sunscreen duty while their children enjoyed uninterrupted fun. The direct interaction created a memorable connection strengthening the entire family’s relationship with the brand.

At the end of the day NIVEA was seen as the favourite partner for the best fun and safest beach experience.
