The film is based on a true story.

We start in a prison cell in which a prisoner appears to be thinking of a plan.

When a guard has passed, he opens his cell door and starts walking out of the prison.

All the time he seems to be lucky as he is escaping the big prison building, until a guard in a surveillance booth spots him and starts a chase.

When the guard catches the prisoner the plot takes a sudden twist.

It is revealed that this prisoner is allowed to walk out of prison multiple times a week to go to the hospital for kidney dialysis.

He won’t escape, because without dialysis he would die within days.
