OVERVIEW

Description

The design leverages the most symbolic icon of Olympism: the Olympic rings. The ‘Living Rings’ concept uses a single ‘ring’ as a means to juxtapose each and every Olympic sport – the beauty, the skill, the emotion and the values. It captures and reflects the Olympic Spirit – a never-ending, diverse, universal story. One that invites us to learn, to participate, to be moved, inspired and transformed.

The colours, tempo and eclectic aesthetic add a dimension of youthful modernity, making it vibrant, energetic and exciting.

Execution

We delivered a dynamic brand identity, which comprised of Channel idents, bumpers, stings and straps. In addition, we delivered full news and live sports on-screen packages, with opening title sequences, moving backgrounds and OSP elements.

Outcome

Soft-launched as a digital platform at the end of the Olympic Games Rio 2016, Olympic Channel already counts 258,000 Twitter and over 2 million Facebook followers. Following this successful launch, NBCUniversal is partnering up with the IOC and USOC to launch a new cable television network focused on Olympic sports, athletes and stories – the “Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA” during the second half of 2017.
