STANDARDIZING TRAVEL. MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY.

A new, media first solution;

We implemented clickable symbols for all 4000 bus/tram/metro/boat-stations around the city map and integrated the Ruter Travel Planner inside the symbols, making the Ruter Travel Planner available on Finn.no website, mobile and tablet apps.

The integration gives instant, real time travel information, a search engine for station names, price and estimated travel time from every ad destination. This allowed users to easily find their way around the Ruter network.

Example: the integrated Travel Planner reveals if the location of a house is practical for picking up kids from school or too far away from work.

With only one click, people’s behaviour changed! The integration became essential in the decision making of whether to go to a house-viewing or not.

A clever solution, executed with a media budget close to zero.

Outcome

After one month, the integration had been used over 180,000 times. Campaign test results showed that an astounding 69% of all people in the Oslo region had seen the solution and 115,000 commuters said they will travel more frequently.

Today the integration has been used over 3 million times - three times the population of Oslo! The integration generated over 535,000 visits to Ruter.no, where they sell their tickets. A conversion rate of 18%.

We made public transport information more accessible, increased awareness, faith in the brand, intention to travel and provided an invaluable resource to the people of Oslo.
