Description

Nowadays you can buy everything online: jewelry, trips or socks. With just a few clicks, your shopping cart is filled with everything you ever wished for. Except cars! These are still only sold at dealerships. Studies show that a good third of all car buyers would like to buy their next car online. In addition, every second product search takes place on Amazon. So why not sell cars on Amazon? And that’s exactly what we did, by radically simplifying the car sales process on an Amazon.de brand page. This made the largest online shop in Germany the largest Opel dealer in Germany over night. Opel sold the Opel ADAM and the Opel Crossland X – lifestyle cars for a young female audience – on the most instant and mobile platform there is.

Execution

Opel on Amazon makes car buying incredibly easy, thanks to a simple user experience and a brand page that is unusual for Amazon. Opel is the first carmaker to sell cars on Amazon.de! Your dream ADAM or Crossland X is configured in just a few clicks. Users can inform themselves about the vehicle on the Amazon Opel brand page and add it to the shopping cart with a click. Awareness and traffic was stimulated by a multi-channel campaign (TV, online, banners, YouTubers) around the popular TV Show “Germany’s next Top Model”.

Outcome

Over 350 million media impressions were generated. The brand page had over 900,000 visits with an unbelievable scroll through rate of 97%. This is the best-performing Amazon brand page ever created (according to Amazon Media Group Data). 7511 cars ended up in the Amazon shopping cart, and 171 cars were actually sold in the end – 90x more than the average dealer in Germany. Without a test drive, without visiting a dealer, without any of the usual procedures.
