#Papertweet is a social crowd-speaking campaign aimed at increasing politicians' awareness around undernutrition.

Today, most politicians are active across social media platforms, and are especially active on Twitter. They share witty comments, settle personal scores, give bold statements, and generally strut their stuff across the Twittersphere.

Meanwhile, people suffering from hunger go unheard by world leaders, in part because they don’t have access to these new forms of communication.

With Action Against Hunger (ACF), we have created PAPERTWEET, a simple, practical way of getting messages directly from those suffering from hunger, to political decision makers, by cutting out intermediaries.

The concept of papertweet: democratize Twitter and transform it into a physical, paper version in order to make it available to as many people as possible.

Populations affected by undernutrition have thus been able to send paper tweets to French politicians to express their needs.

We went to Haiti to meet people suffering from hunger.

We distributed blank « Papertweets » and encouraged people to fill them in with their personal messages to our politicians.

All of the Papertweets were repatriated, digitalized and uploaded onto papertweet.org. Web-users could then amplify the message by retweeting the papertweet of their choice and thereby making the voices of those suffering from undernutrition heard.

On day of action against hunger, which took place on June 15th, thousands of tweets were sent to French politicians.

This effort enabled Action Contre La Faim to meet with Annick Girardin, Secretary of State for Development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which initiated concrete and immediate action.
