After visiting peanutgalleryfilms.com using Google Chrome, visitors select a film clip, authorize microphone input, and then simply speak one sentence at a time as the film plays to add a title card. Punctuation can be created by saying it out loud, for example “how are you question mark” becomes “how are you?” You can then share the video with friends and on social networks.
Outcome
Hundreds of silent film clips were created and shared online, and the new feature received wide coverage. TIME called it “a humorous way to demonstrate a new technology” and Creative Review wrote, “it will no doubt prove far more effective at sharing the news about Google's latest technical development than any dry press statement might do.”
