Background

The Philippines is a “mobile-first” country, and the competitive mobile internet space is becoming more so with the recent addition of new players in the industry.

How can TNT, the Philippines’ leading prepaid mobile network, prove that it still has the strongest network coverage in the country?

Idea

How can TNT, the Philippines’ leading prepaid mobile network, prove that it still has the strongest network coverage in the country? By livestreaming on TIkTok Live across the entire country, using only 1 TNT-powered mobile phone and a small army of hometown influencers!

Strategy

We tapped 30 local influencers who toured us around their hometowns, showing us the sights, sharing their local cuisines, as they passed around the official TNT smartphone, from one influencer to the next, from one town to the next, until it traversed the whole length of the country.

Every single livestream was on TikTok Live, a platform experiencing a meteoric rise in popularity within the target audience (young, Filipino “first-jobbers” in their early to mid 20s).

Execution

Livestreaming is the most bandwidth-intensive activity a phone can do. It requires a strong, steady signal. The Petmaloop Challenge repeated this over and over again from the southern island of Mindanao to the northern Island of Luzon. Proving that in the most dense cities and in the most rural towns, the signal strength of the TNT network is superior to the competition.

And in the culminating event, the TNT-powered phone livestreamed for 26 hours while on-the-road, uninterrupted until it found its way back to the capital of Manila, officially setting the Guinness World Record for “longest travel livestream”.

Livestreaming from different locations is hard enough, but livestreaming while constantly traveling from one place to the next, without interruptions, was a feat virtually unheard of.
