Description
The Cannes Lions festival is the n1 event that brings the worlds creative talent together. While visiting the festival ourselves we discovered that when networking, everyone first looks at your festival badge. However: except for your name and a barcode, it doesn’t have any useful info on it! We saw this wasted media space, as an opportunity.
The Idea: The Portfolio Badge - a clever Cannes Lions badge hack that turns your Cannes Lions festival badge into your personal portfolio.
Execution
We created a easy to use - drag and drop - Photoshop template people could upload via the website (portfoliobadge.com). We would print their badge and they could pick their Portfolio Badge up at the Adobe stand during Cannes Lions. The Portfolio Badge could then easily be attached to the back of the official Cannes Lions Badge.
This was all done in one week.
We had a limited number of badges (500)
Outcome
The idea was a huge succes!
- With zero budget we generated global awareness and press coverage via multiple publications on Adweek and Design Taxi. In total worth over $150.000
- All the badges sold out in one day.
- Creatives got interviews and portfolio reviews from dozens of leading creative companies and industry leaders.
- With a simple idea we touched the heart of our target group and overdelivered on the promise of Adobe Portfolio: "The easiest way to showcase your creativity"
- Becoming the n1 networking tool at Cannes Lions 2016.
