OVERVIEW

Description

We wanted to tell the story of the Red Cross in the Western Cape through their annual report, and decided to create a 'journal' - a year in the life. We designed it around the various charitable functions the society performs and brought these to life with survivors' stories, letters, first-person accounts, newspaper clippings and emotive photography, using props and icons from around the offices - such as old posters, badges, medallions - to keep costs down. We included a call to action and provided the copy for a fundraising letter: a perfect, dual-purpose pack.

Outcome

Through relationships with suppliers, and by donating our design and copy time, we produced the annual report with minimal hard costs. Thus, any donations received would show a high ROI. The Red Cross are still processing donations and are unable to provide actual figures. They do specify that they have not only received new donations, but have also received increased donations from existing donors. They are unanimous in reporting this as the most successful piece of fundraising literature they have ever printed. They have received inbound responses: from personal donors, people wanting more copies of the report, and community leaders.
