Description
The purpose of the video was to visually connect Sprite to Staples’ “Big Fish” album concept. Staples' previous video for “Big Fish” was on a stranded boat in the middle of the ocean, so this project continues with the same boat stranded in the desert. Essentially, Sprite wants to promote its ability to quench your thirst and thus offers Staples' relief from the draught in the desert he’s stranded in.
Execution
The Sprite can is cleverly made a part of the storyline itself, by not only leading Staples’ along his journey through the desert, but also providing a resolution by the end of the video. The empty Sprite bottle leads him to a diner where he can finally quench his thirst with a new bottle and by watching the rain fall on the windows outside.
Outcome
Vince Staples is a brand ambassador for Sprite and was featured on limited-edition Sprite packaging for their Summer Sprite Cold Lyrics Series. Their partnership is not only advantageous for the beverage company, but their continual support of the hip-hop and rap community has made this collaboration authentic and engaging for consumers and audiences alike.
