TG4, the Irish language television channel is an independent statutory entity. The channel has been on-air since late 1996. TG4 is a free-to-air channel, available across all the viewing platforms, with a strong viewer base throughout the island of Ireland. An average of 650,000 viewers a day watch TG4 in the Republic of Ireland. When TG4 announced they would show all the great Italia 90 games during lockdown, we spotted an opportunity for revenge, deftly reimagining the games footage to tell a very different story for housebound fans. One that doesn’t end in heartbreak.

Salvatore Schillaci scored the quarter final goal that brought the Irish dream to an untimely end. To promote the Ireland V Italy, game we changed in 30 seconds what happened 30 years ago. We made Schillaci miss and used shots of devastated Italian fans taken from the semi-final (when Italy were knocked out by Argentina) to tell a very different story.
