Sick Tats for Rad Moms—A Virtual Tattoo Studio

The app allows moms to take a photo of themselves, select a tattoo, adjust the position and shading, and then upload the photo to social media. Sample tattoos included the family minivan, a skull and crossbones made out of baby bottles and a declaration of “Cesarean pride.”

A highly targeted Facebook buy drove moms to the mobile site on Mother’s Day. Banners, e-mail blasts and mobile units on the network’s owned media channels also drove users to participate and ink their rad tats.

Outcome

To date, our virtual tattoo studio has had over 41,000 visits, resulting in nearly 1,318 hours of time spent on the mobile site “getting inked.”

These visits resulted in 5,000 tattoos, and nearly 40% of users who created a tattoo shared it with a friend via e-mail and Facebook.
