When we were first provided with the project, we had an exact year the car was made and the brief, which was to match each scene to the various years. From that, we selected stills from the relevant eras that we felt best suited each specific date, as a reference. Then once we highlighted what we liked or didn’t like about each period, the colourist spent some time experimenting with the scenes until we felt they looked authentic to each period.
Lots of different techniques were used to either age the images or make them more digital or even lower the quality on some scenes.
