Description
Forget the fanciful and mechanical identities common to this category; the SKY Movies channel rebrand is iconic, creative and charming. The brand seeks to embody its passion for content, dial up its Kiwiness and remain relevant and exciting for all of New Zealand. We created 18 indents as part of the launch. Using the angular nature of the new brand, each one shares SKY’s passion for film. The spots are inspired by movie tropes and tributes, with our SKY angles at the heart of the action. From laugh out loud moments to couch-side cliffhangers. the spots cover the full range of genres and emotions you can expect to see on SKY Movies.
Bullet-dodging SKY angles unleash an arsenal of ammunition in this contemporary fight scene.
Execution
The illustrations were created as vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator and then animated using Adobe After Effects. The characters in all the idents are triangle shapes based on SKY TV NZ’s ‘dial’. These are set up as shape layers for keyframe animation. All idents were created as vector illustrations and then animated using After Effects.
The scenes were set up using 2.5D to create environments with depth. Lights were used in the scenes to provide shadows and depth of field used in cameras to assist in compliment the depth. All the music is original and was composed specifically for the idents, along with the sound design.
