Description

Yamaha Marine launches each year a new catalogue. Normally, it goes to dealers. We decided to advertise it for final customers, a couple of months before the usual sales period. We also wanted to fulfill their database. To get the catalogue, consumers must call Yamaha, answer a couple of questions and receive it free. There was also a promotion-discount-for sales done before June. Consumers were advised to go to their closest dealer. We test market the action in Catalonia and Mallorca. First time in Spain to announce a catalogue like this on TV announcing the new catalogue, with phone to get it free. After a cold winter you look forward the arrival of the summer to go out to the sea. Don't wait more than necessary. The copy was:"Summer arrives. How long have you been waiting for it? Call at 937 031 500 and get the new 2003 Yamaha Marine catalogue".

Outcome

More than 50.000 catalogues distributed in the test area. Sales up to 45% more than previous year. (Client was happy, but also considered that the extremely hot summer of 2003 in Europe helped for success). This kind of action was unique in Spain. We also got a high degree of awareness for the Yamaha Marine brand. Results prove it was a very good, efficient idea, despite the weather's help.
