Description

To celebrate Sonic The Hedgehog's 25th Anniversary, we created a new Sonic experience for Australian fans. With the approval of SEGA Japan, we set about creating 'Sonic Vision' - A limited edition game that was available on iPhone for just 12 weeks in the lead up to Christmas (a peak sales period for console and mobile games).Using Augmented Reality technology we transformed Sonic into a real world game that fans could play throughout the streets of Australia by turning outdoor posters, street posters & stickers into rings by embedding augmented reality markers ('glyphs') into the poster designs. Players located the rings using the in-app map & GPS to reveal locations across Australia. Each location players captured a ring earned 5000 points with difficult to access locations rewarding players with 50,000 points. Hundreds of rings were made available during the 12-week game period.

And this is just the beginning for Sonic Vision. What started out as 25th Anniversary project for Australian gamers, is being considered for launch in international markets.
