Overview

Background

The directive was to create a spot that established the beauty of the world and our interaction with it. The brief required our team to design a fluid landscape capable of long driving runs, that were safe, and represented a mindful approach to life while also emphasizing the vehicles features. Thanks to the efficiencies offered by "Unreal" technology, production efficiently captured extensive footage across various environments, including cityscapes, forests, and beach-lined roads, within a single shoot day. The production team, in collaboration with their VAD team, was also responsible for constructing these environments, granting complete control over appearance and customization throughout the production process. Factors such as time of day, travel speeds, and geographic designs were meticulously crafted by a small team utilizing assets and custom features within Unreal Engine. The art direction, typically associated with VFX, was achieved through live working sessions by the real-time rendering.

Idea

Jay Shetty is known for a mindful approach to life. This same theme was the driving force for these scripts, considering how energy and mindset impact the world around us. The goal was to translate this theoretical approach to life into a more literal one in how we treat the planet. The client, agency, and production team found inspiration in this concept. A streamlined digital work flow allowed our team to design and capture our vision for the campaign in an efficient, sustainable way without sacrificing creativity.

Execution

Storyboards, previs, driving plates, and environments were all generated within Unreal Engine, allowing for a seamless creative process. Each revision and iteration contributed to the evolution of the environment, streamlining the creative process and enhancing the final deliverables. The entire spot was shot in-camera without the need for traditional VFX or green screen replacement during principal photography. Furthermore, through the capabilities of Virtual Production, drone shots were rendered directly from the engine, providing photorealistic results without the need for complex VFX pipelines or remote units. The experience for the talent, director, and client was overwhelmingly positive, resulting in an outstanding outcome. The digital breakthroughs contributed to the project's resounding success.
