Background
Spike Jonez directed a commercial for Squarespace and we were hired to create a rendition of the classic "Que Sera Sera" with a whimsical and fantastical twist. The idea was to create an authentic, magical and imperfect rendition of "Que Sera Sera" that compliments the film and carries the message of making your dreams come true.
Idea
We reimagined the song Que Sera Sera by Doris Day by recording a children's choir in the UK and composing a new arrangement of the track.
In the commercial, which ends with the tagline “Dream It. Make It,” Elba lip syncs to a rendition of “Que Sera Sera” (originally performed by Karishva Ghai and Kaos Choir for Deaf Awareness) as he fantasizes about the different kinds of careers he could have — boxer, fighter pilot, astronaut, chef and more.
Strategy
The strategy was create an authentic, magical and imperfect rendition of "Que Sera Sera" sung by children.
Execution
First we composed an arrangement of "Que Sera Sera". Then we flew to the UK and the children's choir in a school auditorium with a remote recording setup.
Outcome
The outcome was that we reached 1,911,533 viewers on YouTube, 318K viewers on Facebook and had multiple write-ups on Ad Age, iSpot TV and more.
