OVERVIEW

Execution

The "Stock Car Transformer" is a stunt created to show consumers that the Shell V-Power Ethanol available at regular Shell gas stations is exactly the same used as the official fuel of the Stock Car Series in Brazil. We installed a digital structure in a gas station that created an optical illusion transforming every vehicle that neared the Shell V-Power Ethanol pump into a real-size race car. The effect was created using a giant LED panel and motion sensors installed on the ground. The stunt lasted 7 days and was held during the week of a major race on the 2013 season, which boosted it's visibility all over the country.

Outcome

The 'Stock Car Transformer' turned a stop for gas into a thrilling experience for drivers and their passengers, including couples, families, friends and also passers on nearby streets. Thanks to the great number of tourists and journalists in the city during that special week the 'Stock Car Transformer' generated spontaneous media both on and offline, including TV, blogs, websites and social networks. With a week-long stunt we generated an estimated 16 million impacts overall showing that the Ethanol you find at the gas station is the same from the race tracks.
