Background

Unicredit Bank Austria is one of the top 3 banks in Austria. It has a long history that goes back as far as 1855.

The brand's tagline is currently, 'banking that matters.'

The brand is involved in countless social and cultural support programs and possesses a large presence in the city's offline spaces. Recently, this has included digital signage featuring creatives made as part of this Swipe Right campaign.

The brand's CSR is orientated towards giving back to the local community. This translates to supporting young Austrian entrepreneurs, creatives, athletes, as well as sustainability programs.

In response to target market research and various other insights, their communications strategy underwent a shift in recent years in efforts to have their brand communicate and resonate more effectively with their local younger target audiences.

Execution

A bank's headquarters is filled with poetry and dance.

A poem written by a young, local spoken-word poet drives the story. The poem is carried by the concept – swipe right to what empowers you, swipe left to what holds you back.

Several characters dance in the office to the words from the poet that advocates for messages like equality, breaking free of the old norms, believing in yourself etc.

Sometimes, the picture swipes left and right, to emphasise the play on the dating app-inspired ’swipe right' movement (synonymous for liking something), on which the story's concept is based.

The story begins with a young female protagonist unsure of which direction to take.

The end reveals that it was the protagonist doing the swiping of the screen all along, navigating her journey towards a direction that is righteous and daring. She swipes right to the bank that helps her.
