Description

Football players and traders have a lot in common. The technology of 360° videos allows to show the similarities in a new way. Not only does the message determine the channel but also the technology.

The 360° commercials show the parallels between Forex traders and football players. Every story is told from two perspectives. To achieve this, the commercials were shot using two 180° perspectives. Together, the result is an all-round 360° view. This technically highly complex implementation offers an interactive experience, since the viewer can choose the perspective.

Users gain access to situations they are not familiar with – such as Wayne Rooney in the bathroom. In keeping with the motto “the medium is the message”, the task involved leveraging novel technology to communicate the fact that innovative approaches are part of Swissquote’s brand DNA.

Execution

The 360° episodes with the stars from ManUtd have been posted on the Facebook page of the club and on Weibo (very popular social media platform in China). A message to the club’s media distributors ensures additional media coverage and raise awareness of Swissquote. In addition, there are homepage takeovers of the ManU website and goal.com.

The fully online based campaign has been launched in February 2017 and lasts for about half a year.

Outcome

The campaign has been launched in February 2017. And did not go beyond phase 1 until the application deadline. The goal in phase 1 is to raise awareness and get positive response. Thanks to the popularity of the players episode 1 and 2 have become popular from day one. With around 6,2 million views on Facebook (posted at ManUtd and Swissquote) and 870.000 on YouTube (all language versions), expectations were more than exceeded. 96.000 likes on Facebook underscore the fact that Wayne Rooney charged the Swissquote brand with a positive image (all figures as of 3/30/17).
