We conceived and realised the online video based on a guerrilla-type operation at the IAA in Frankfurt. The clip shows how car drivers experience ConnectedDrive applications live – in their own cars. An interactive display catches the drivers’ eye and asks them to try the system out. They can control it via a menu by using their car horns and flashing their lights, whereby they are surprised by live acts suddenly appearing. The amusing video clip shows the astonished faces of the passers-by to be subsequently posted on YouTube and BMW TV.
Outcome
Not only do the participants in the guerrilla-type operation get to know BMW ConnectedDrive: the video also publicises the features in an original manner via the social web. 'The BMW ConnectedDrive surprise' was seen on YouTube more than a quarter of a million times and was given a positive assessment in over 97 percent of cases.
