Description
We created The Fastest Soap. It is the first five second opera that got broadcast in Youtube pre-rolls. We entertained our youngsters before the 'real' entertainment begin.
Even though five seconds are really short to tell a story, we made sure the fastest soap contained as much drama, adultery and illegitimate children as your average 30-minute-soap. And it worked! The soap was especially made to be broadcast as youtube pre-rolls. ‘The Fasted Soap’ had 13 episodes of each 5 seconds, so you can binge-watch the first full season in only 65 seconds. Talking about topspeed!
Execution
During two weeks, we broadcast the fastest soap as youtube pre rolls. Thanks to YouTube features, we could adjust the timing of broadcasting to each person of the target group. If you had seen episode one, the next time you'd stumble upon a pre roll you automatically got to see the following episode, episode 2, that is.
Via Facebook and their website Proximus also pushed the episodes.
We also put all the episodes online, so the fans that wanted to see the whole season immediately, didn't have to wait for a next pre-roll. This also perfectly fits the mindset of Proximus.
Outcome
Proximus received lots of positive feedback via their social media channels. The Fastest Soap pre-rolls received a CTR of 3,6% which is high for pre-rolls, and certainly for Proximus it's an increase of 3%.
The Fastest Soap received more than 3 000 000 viewers on youtube. That’s more than the most successful soap on Belgian television. After the campaigning youngsters considered Proximus as being more up-to-date, funny and daring.
