The campaign was created to raise awareness about Russian political prisoners. The aim was to motivate Czech people in supporting them by signing a petition on our website www.prisonexit.org.

In Czech Republic, being one of the post-communist countries, the topic of political prisoners is still present. There is still aversion against totalitarian regimes. Especially against Russia under which suppression we had suffered in the past. What used to happen in the former Czechoslovakia, happens now in Russia. People are getting unfairly sentenced for their anti-regime opinions.

In the past there were couple of political prisoners in the world such as Vaclav Havel or Nelson Mandela who later became presidents. Based on this insight we encourage people to support unfairly convicted Russian prisoners because there might be the next Russian president sitting among them.
