OVERVIEW

Execution

Following the conceptualisation of ‘The Good Road Helmet’, the first step was to equip the bike with an sensor to note the presence of the helmet on the rider’s head. The helmet, in turn, was fitted with a miniscule transmitting device for the purpose that could charge itself using solar power. After numerous rounds of testing, ‘The Good Road Helmet’ went live.

A short film was created demonstrating the idea, the helmet and its potential impact on road safety. This was hosted on the website where one could place orders for the helmet and recommend participation from other users.

Outcome

Within days of launching the website, the number of hits touched 150,000. The video on YouTube was viewed by 71,000 unique visitors, leaving a total of 10,000 unique media impressions. ‘The Good Road Helmet’ made it into over 150,000 wish-lists attracting the participation of a multi-national manufacturing giant.

The Bangalore Traffic Police equipped all the bikes in its 600-strong force with the smart helmet, championing the cause by example.
