The Lord Ashcroft Gallery at Imperial War Museum London houses the Extraordinary Heroes exhibition, the largest collection of Victoria Crosses and George Crosses in the world. These are the highest military and civilian honours in the UK and Commonwealth nations. The gallery tells the personal story behind each medal. The concept behind the campaign was to distill some of these complex stories to their simplest form possible so that a listener could, in some small way, understand the stark dangers that the recipients of these medals faced.
