Description

To transform an everyday object into an aid for daily drivers life, taking advantage of their habit of wearing a cap while driving.

We created The Wake Cap transforming an ordinary accessory into a piece of wearable technology that tracks the movements of the driver's head in real time. It emits an alert when it detects drowsiness, in order to alert the driver that he should pull over and take a rest.

Execution

The Wake Cap is a wearable and functional accessory that includes an Arduino, and some other modules that make it able to detect when a driver starts to nod or adopts a drowsiness indicating position.

Outcome

We donated 150 caps to drivers who became to Bogota from other principal cities such as Medellin and Cartagena.

All activities were supported by the message of "remember to take a while to rest after 2 and a half hours of driving or when you detect the first signals of drowsiness".
