Background
Situation: As it undergoes a pivotal transformation under new leadership, Air India wished to create a topical film that was bold, progressive, vibrant, warm and proudly Indian, emphasising their narrative Desh Ka Naam Har Asmaan ( ‘India's Name, Across Every Sky’)
Brief: The brief called for a celebration of India's diversity, progress, and optimism for the future, encapsulating the spirit of a flourishing nation. Slated for India's 75th Republic Day, the film was meant to capture India's remarkable journey, highlighting its magnificence, and the progress of its greatest asset- its people.
Objective: The objective was to celebrate national pride, reaffirming Air India's role as a beacon of Indian identity and resilience, poised to redefine the skies in the contemporary narrative of India's journey.
Execution
In crafting the soundscape for this film, we embarked on a sonic journey as rich and varied as India itself. The soundtrack is a harmonious fusion of India's rich musical traditions with contemporary vibrance, encapsulating the essence of our nation's soul.
At its core, the Konnakol vocal rhythm breathes life into the piece, symbolising India's dynamic and rhythmic growth. This ancient South Indian percussion art form weaves through the composition, illustrating the nation's progressive and unified march towards the future. The intricate rhythms of Konnakol blend seamlessly with Indian classical music, crafting a soundtrack that not only complements the visual narrative but also celebrates India's diverse yet cohesive identity.
