Description

We follow the fortunes of a young kid from 2017 named Noah, from his dreams of driving his own car to his daughter’s first driving lesson many years in the future. We witness how exciting that ride can be when your vehicle becomes a companion you develop a relationship with. As we jump from one year to the next, and as Noah’s height and his haircut makes a similar leap, he emerges with new perspectives, happiness still in reach.

Outcome

To our knowledge, a naturalistic film about a concept car is a first.

The car is not fully functional and very fragile - building materials were not production-ready. Most driving shots had to be carefully prepared to simulate a realistic experience.

There was only one model of this car. That unique model had to be ready for prime time for its unveiling a few weeks after the shoot which meant no scratches inside and out.

The car was not publicly released at the time of shooting and had to keep secret during the entire filming process. We faced serious location constraints and we created camouflage devices during some of the most exposed parts of shoot.

We had to imagine and explore the human responses to the new technologies that Toyota is working on. In particular, what will be our emotional responses to an intelligent car we build a relationship with?
