The Sinhala and Tamil New Year holidays in April is a period during which Sri Lankans travel abroad to visit family and friends. Now findmyfare.com wanted to promote an offer that would be every traveller’s dream- Extra baggage allowance.
We observed that Sri Lankans travelling during this time often end up being over-weight at the check-in counter. That’s due to the gifts and obligations they’re expected to carry both ways. So this is a time when they are on a lookout for additional luggage to accommodate their needs.
Execution
The ads, that were designed to look like bags were placed amongst the clutter of other travel bags and suitcases on the page. Once clicked on, customers were taken to the product description page, subsequently directing them to the offer and a link that also took them to the findmyfare.com bookings page.
Outcome
This unique promotion clearly outweighed other promos as was evident by a significant rise in enquiries and subsequent bookings online. Out of 40% of visits to WOW.lk, 85% converted to clicks on the findmyfare.com bookings page. Findmyfare.com sold 154 tickets through directed clicks within a week.
