We shot 25 teams using real college representatives like fans, mascots, cheerleaders, and band members, along with actor representatives to fill out the crowds. Fourteen mascots and handlers were flown in from across the country to be as authentic as possible. This massive project was shot in just one 12-hour day.
We shot with 189 principals, 225 extras, and 25 schools in one day. This cast of 414 in an empty stadium was digitally expanded to thousands on the field and tens of thousands in the stadium. VFX coordinators were there on shoot day to collaborate with the director and cinematographer to ensure postproduction would blend seamlessly. In post, the digi-double crowd was built in CG, and the stadium was digitally expanded from single-tier to double-decker, then de-branded. Nearly every exterior frame was rotoscoped around hundreds of actors in frame to include the expanded stadium and crowd environment.
