Description

Despite all the difficulties caused by the disease, people with Parkinson's Disease can live a good life and do pretty much everything others can, such as working, having fun and even write well.

In order to prove that, we created Sonia Script, a font made off of the calligraphy of Sonia Cascino, a retired teacher who has the disease for 8 years.

Due to the prejudice, Sonia was forced to retire after finding out about her disease. She, who always used the writing to teach her students, could now go back to spread knowledge, but this time about the disease.

Execution

The campaign’s launching film tells Sonia’s story, bringing the testimonial of a neurologist and inviting people to use the font.

Made by the celebrated Brazilian illustrator Mario Niveo in partnership with the developer Ivan Hods, Sonia Script was available online on the period of April 11th to April 30th on the www.escrevaparalutar.com.br website. With it, people could better understand the different aspects of the disease and share supporting messages to the cause. The visitors were also invited to download the font and create posters about the fight against prejudice.

Some of the most important Brazilian celebrities were also invited to participate on the movement #TypetoFight.

Outcome

126 million people were impacted with the action and thousands shared messages against prejudice.

Many celebrities got involved with the cause, sharing pictures and Sonia’s story.

A 205% increase in the number of website accesses on April 11th compared to the same date on the year before.

Most part of the website visitors also interacted with its content.

Spontaneous disclosure in more than 45 national and international media channels.

The biggest independent media channel of the country, Catraca Livre, changed its logo on April 11th.

At the end, Sonia Cascino was also invited to go back to teaching, proving that most limiting obstacle for those who have Parkinson’s is still prejudice.
