This :30 spot starts with footage from the preexisting Snickers “Marilyn” commercial, where Marilyn Monroe is replaced by an irritated Willem Dafoe, until she eats Snickers. The “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” art card comes up and we think the spot is over.
But we cut to a couple in their living room watching TV. It turns out the “Marilyn” footage we were just seeing is what was playing on their TV. As soon as it ends, the husband complains that Snickers commercials make it seem like hungry people turn into celebrities, and all he turns into is his neighbor. His wife explains he’s not that hungry so he’s not that different. He eats a Snickers Bite and turns back into himself. He asks his wife, “Better?” and she responds “Eh, a little.” The Snickers Bites graphic appears. “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry. Even a little."
