Description
Unforgotten remembers the victims of Chicago gun violence in a uniquely powerful way by bringing back the victims to advocate for change. Statues were built in the victims’ images, using their actual clothing. This interactive installation traveled around the state of Illinois over the course of a year, culminating in an exhibition at the state capitol building where the victims were brought directly to the lawmakers.
The Unforgotten documentary film features interviews with the victims’ family members, senators, and community activists. It puts a human face on the issue of gun violence and starts a conversation to bring about change.
Unforgotten was created for the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence.
Execution
